Dartmouth Announces Incoming Class
HANOVER, N.H. — Head Coach Mark
Hudak and the Dartmouth women's hockey team announced the
incoming freshman class on Wednesday.
The group includes three forwards, a defenseman and a goaltender.
Two of the five recruits come from north of the border, two from
Minnesota and one from Connecticut.
Abbie Lund
Forward
Eden Prairie, Minn./The Blake School
Lund comes to Hanover from Eden Prairie, Minn., where she attended
and played for The Blake School. In 2010, she earned all-conference
and all-state honors. She was the most valuable forward and the
captain during the 2010-11 season. In 2009, she was all-conference
and all-state honorable mention. She earned the most improved award
and was a member of the all-tournament team.
Morgan Illikainen
Defense
Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids Greenway Lightning/Minnesota Jr.
Whitecaps
Illikainen enters Dartmouth from Grand Rapids, Minn., after
previously playing for the Grand Rapids Greenway Lightning and the
Minnesota Junior Whitecaps. She finished her career with over 100
points, and had 16 goals and 19 assists in her senior year at Grand
Rapids. She was named all state in 2010 and 2011 and was honorable
mention all state in 2009. She earned the Hobey Baker High School
Character Award in 2011, and was a participant at the USA U-16 and
U-17 National Camps.
Katie May Milligan
Goaltender
Kingston, Ont./Sydenham High School/Lady Senators Intermediate
AA
Milligan joins the Big Green from the Ottawa Lady Senators
Intermediate AA. Her team was the Kingston Athlete Secondary School
Association (KASSA) hockey champion in 2010. She was the Sydenham
High School Female Athlete of the Year in 2008. During her club
hockey career, Milligan was a Provincial Bronze Medalist (Ontario)
in 2005. She attended Sydenham High School in Kingston, Ont.
Karlee Odland
Forward
Vauxhall, Alta./Vauxhall High School/Medicine Hat Hounds
Midget
Odland comes to Dartmouth from Vauxhall, Alta., where she played
for the Medicine Hat Hounds of the Alberta Major Midget Female
Hockey League. In 2010, she was the team's leading scorer and the
league's most valuable player. Odland played for Team Alberta U-18
in 2009, and won the gold medal for Team Alberta U-18 at the Canada
Winter Games. She also attended Team Canada U-18 Conditioning Camp
and Selection Camp. Odland attended Vauxhall High School.
Sam Zeiss
Forward
Stamford, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall/Connecticut Polar Bears
U-19
Zeiss enters Dartmouth from Choate Rosemary Hall, where she also
played for the Connecticut Polar Bears U-19 team. She attended both
the 2010 and 2009 girls USA selection camps.
The newcomers will look to keep the Big Green on the winning path.
Dartmouth returned to the NCAA Playoffs for the eighth time in the
program's history this past season, and reached the finals of the
ECAC tournament.
