Bredin Named IIHF Mentor and Ambassador

HANOVER, N.H. — Former Dartmouth women's hockey player Correne Bredin ’02 was recently named a mentor and ambassador to help promote women's hockey in Canada and beyond.

The IIHF Ambassador and Mentor Program (AMP) will create partnerships between some of the world’s best women’s hockey coaches and players, and countries that are striving to join the sport’s global elite. All of the athlete ambassadors and coach mentors bring tremendous experience to the program, with most having won multiple medals at the IIHF World Women’s Championship and Olympic Winter Games.

Bredin will serve as an ambassador to Slovakia along with one other athlete and two coaches.

"The sport of hockey has guided my path in life," said Bredin. "Having recently retired, I would like to stay involved in the sport by sharing my experiences and passion to help develop women's hockey worldwide. The investment from the IIHF to proactively develop women's hockey is a new step and I would like to help make it as successful as possible."

Bredin is still high on the Big Green's all-time scoring lists. She has the most career goals by a defenseman with 44, the second-most career assists by a defenseman with 93 and the second-most career points by a defenseman with 137.
