HANOVER, N.H. — The Big Green lost in the ECAC Championship last Saturday, March 5, at second-ranked Cornell, 3-0. The Big Red scored one goal in each period to earn the victory. The Big Green only took 14 shots on goal, which marked a season low. Freshman Lindsay Holdcroft (Pittsburgh, Pa.) kept the score close by making 25 saves. She was named to the ECAC all-tournament team. It was the third time the two teams played this season with each team winning on home ice.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN

Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) is second on the team with 35
points on 17 goals and 18 assists. Junior Kelly
Foley (Boston, Mass.) is third with 17 goals and 15

Nanji (Markham, Ont.) is fourth with 14 goals and 16
assists for 30 points. Junior Reagan
Fischer (Irma, Alta.) is fifth on the team with nine
goals and a team-leading 19 assists for 28 points. Overall, the
squad has had 17 players who have recorded a point, and had 15
players record a goal and an assist.
In net, Holdcroft has come late in the season to solidify herself as the starting goaltender. Holdcroft has started 26 games on the season and played 1558:21 minutes. She has 559 saves, a 2.16 goals against average, an 18-8-0 record, a .909 save percentage and four shutouts. Sophomore Whitney Woodcox (Oshawa, Ont.) has started seven games, totaling 442:41 minutes. NCAA PLAYOFFS
This marks the eighth time Dartmouth has made the NCAA tournament
in the tournament's 11th year in existence. The Big Green have made
four Frozen Four appearances with their last one coming in
2005.
The Big Green last played in the NCAA tournament in 2009 at Wisconsin. The Badgers won the quarterfinal game, 7-0. Dartmouth is 2-10 all time in the tournament.
NEED FOR THREE
If the Big Green are going to beat Cornell on Saturday they are
probably going to have to score three goals. On the season,
Dartmouth is 1-10 when it scores two goals or fewer, but is 21-1
when it scored three goals or more. The Big Green are a perfect
16-0 when they score four or more goals.
TWO-GOAL SCORERS
Another thing to watch for on Saturday that may be a sign that
Dartmouth will win the game is having a skater score at least two
goals. The Big Green are a perfect 12-0 when they have a player
score two or more goals in a game.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell is the second-ranked team in the country and has a 30-2-1
record. The only losses the Big Red have suffered this season are
at home to Mercyhurst on Nov. 2 and at Dartmouth on Feb.
18.
Freshman Brianne Jenner leads the team in scoring with 48 points on 22 goals and 26 assists. Junior Rebecca Johnston is second on the team with 47 points on 25 goals and 22 assists. Junior Chelsea Karpenko is third with 21 goals and 24 assists for 45 points.
In net, junior Amanda Mazzotta has returned from injury to regain her starting spot. She has started 16 games and played 912:19 minutes. She has 277 saves, a 0.99 goals against average, a .949 save percentage and five shutouts.
SERIES HISTORY
Cornell and Dartmouth will meet for the 71st time on Saturday. The
Big Green lead the series, 40-24-6. The first meeting took place on
February 16, 1979 at Thompson Arena, with the Big Red earning an
easy victory, 8-1. Dartmouth didn't get its first victory in the
series until 1983 in a 3-0 victory at Cornell. The Big Green
dominated the series in the 2000's with Dartmouth winning 19 in a
row that ended on February 14, 2009, when the two teams tied at
Cornell. The Big Red won both contests last season. Cornell has won
two out of the three meetings this season with both victories
coming on home ice.
