The Dartmouth women's hockey team will certainly be familiar with its opponent when it begins NCAA tournament play this weekend. The Big Green was dealt its fourth contest of the season with Ivy League rival Cornell when the eight-team bracket was unveiled online last night, and will tackle the Big Red in a quarterfinal clash at noon Saturday in Ithaca, N.Y.

Cornell (30-2-1), seeded second in the tournament, had little trouble with Dartmouth two days ago, winning the ECAC tournament title game 3-0 on its home ice. The Big Green (22-11-0) also lost to the Big Red, 6-1, on the road in November, but did post one of the biggest upsets of the Division I season when it upended Cornell 4-2 on Feb. 18 in Hanover.

“We're certainly very excited to have made it in,” said Dartmouth coach Mark Hudak, whose program missed the postseason entirely last year, but will be making its sixth NCAA appearance in his eight seasons at the helm. “Going to Cornell is certainly better than having to plan out flights to Wisconsin or Minnesota, but at the same time, we're going right back into the lion's den.”
