Big Green Well-Represented on All-Academic Team
HANOVER, NH The Dartmouth women's hockey team had 16 members named to the 2009-10 ECAC Hockey on Wednesday with three seniors being honored for the fourth time.
Senior captains Sarah Parsons (Dover, Mass.) and Jenna Cunningham (Medicine Hat, Alta.) were selected for the fourth time, along with senior Sarah Toupal (White Bear Lake, Minn.). Senior Sarah Kennedy (Jasper, Alta.) led the group that earned the honors for the third time. She was joined by juniors Katie Horner (Brooklyn Park, Minn.), Alyssa Boehm (Waterford, Conn.) and Larissa Roche (Thorhild, Alta.).
Senior Sue Schmitz (Brookfield, Wis.) and sophomores Jenna Hobeika (Alpine, N.J.) and Moira Scanlon (Chicago, Ill.) were named to the team for the second time, while classmate Erica Dobos (Bethel Park, Pa.) was selected for the first time. Other first-timers were freshmen Lisa Berreman (Eagan, Minn.), Camille Dumais (Beaconsfield, Que.), Jessica Gagner (London, Ont.) and Margaux Sharp (Carleton Place, Ont.).
ECAC Hockey honored 136 student-athletes representing the ECAC Hockey's 12 women's programs. Seventy-nine of this year's student-athletes were also named to the team last year and 41 have the distinction of receiving the honor the last three seasons. Of the 12 institutions, Harvard leads the way with 18 honorees, followed by Yale and Dartmouth with 16, and Rensselaer with 15.
Players are eligible for the All-Academic team if they earn a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or have a GPA over 3.00 over the past three semesters.
