Trunzo Named to U.S. Under-22 Select Team
HANOVER, NH – Senior women's hockey player Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) was chosen to
participate with the U.S. National Under-22 Select Team in both the
2010 USA Hockey Women's National Festival and the 2010 Under-22
Series.
The Women's National Festival will run from August 13-21 at the
Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. The U22 team will depart the
Festival early and travel to Toronto to compete in the three-game
Under-22 Series against Canada from August 18-21.
All but one member of the team (Coyne) will play NCAA Division I
college hockey in the fall, with 12 colleges and universities
represented on the U.S. roster.
Trunzo is one of six players making their debuts for Team USA. She
is joined by Lauren Dahm, Chelsea Knapp, Josephine Pucci, Montana
Vichorek, Bray Ketchum and Jen Schoullis. She will also be
competing alongside Hanover's own Hilary Knight, who plays for the
University of Wisconsin.
The Dartmouth forward is coming off her second best season in a
Big Green uniform with 33 points on 18 goals and 15 points. Her
best season came in 2008-09, where she led the team with 42 points
on 22 goals and 20 points. Trunzo was named honorable mention
All-Ivy and ECAC Hockey Third Team that season. She currently has
92 career points on 51 goals and 41 helpers.
The U.S. squad will open Under-22 Series play on August 18 at 7
p.m. EDT at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto.
