Trunzo Named to U.S. Under-22 Select Team

HANOVER, NH – Senior women's hockey player Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) was chosen to participate with the U.S. National Under-22 Select Team in both the 2010 USA Hockey Women's National Festival and the 2010 Under-22 Series.

The Women's National Festival will run from August 13-21 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. The U22 team will depart the Festival early and travel to Toronto to compete in the three-game Under-22 Series against Canada from August 18-21.

All but one member of the team (Coyne) will play NCAA Division I college hockey in the fall, with 12 colleges and universities represented on the U.S. roster.

Trunzo is one of six players making their debuts for Team USA. She is joined by Lauren Dahm, Chelsea Knapp, Josephine Pucci, Montana Vichorek, Bray Ketchum and Jen Schoullis. She will also be competing alongside Hanover's own Hilary Knight, who plays for the University of Wisconsin.

The Dartmouth forward is coming off her second best season in a Big Green uniform with 33 points on 18 goals and 15 points. Her best season came in 2008-09, where she led the team with 42 points on 22 goals and 20 points. Trunzo was named honorable mention All-Ivy and ECAC Hockey Third Team that season. She currently has 92 career points on 51 goals and 41 helpers.

The U.S. squad will open Under-22 Series play on August 18 at 7 p.m. EDT at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto.
