Dartmouth Welcomes Four in Incoming Class

HANOVER, NH - Head coach Mark Hudak and the Dartmouth women's hockey program has announced that the Big Green will be welcoming four new members in the Class of 2014.

The class features two blueliners, a forward and a goaltender. Two of the four recruits are from north of the border, while one is coming to Hanover from Minnesota and one from Pennsylvania.

Lauren Kelly
Defense l  5-8
Milton, Ont./Bishop Reading Secondary/Oakville Ice (PWHL)

Kelly makes the trip to Hanover from Milton, Ontario, where she was a member of the Oakville Ice of the Provincial Women's Hockey League. She was a member of Team Canada's U-18 Team in 2009 and won the gold medal for Team Ontario Red at the 2009 Canadian National Women's Under-18 Championship. She posted an assist in five games played during the tournament. Kelly attended Bishop Reading Secondary School in Ontario and has been an honor roll student in each of her semesters at Bishops.

Elli Gleason
Defense l  5-6
Edina, Minn./Edina High School

Gleason comes to Dartmouth with a lengthy resume for a girls' high school hockey player in the state of Minnesota. She was in the final "List of 20" for the 2009-10 Minnesota Ms. Hockey Award, given to the top player in the state. Gleason was the senior captain for Edina and was an all-conference performer. She became an all-state selection and was a member of the all-state tournament team as well. 

Her commitment extended beyond the ice and as a result she was an Academic All-State selection as a senior. Gleason has also made her mark nationally as a participant at the USA Hockey National Select camps.

Lindsay Holdcroft
Goaltender l  5-4
Pittsburgh, Penn./North Allegheny HS/Team Pittsburgh U-19

Holdcroft enters Dartmouth from Pittsburgh and North Allegheny High School, where she was a member of the boys' varsity team. She earned The May Award as the most valuable player for the varsity AAA hockey team for last season and was the Pittsburgh Penguins' High School Hockey Player of the Month in January of 2009. Holdcroft was the PIHL (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League) AAA All-Star Team member as a junior. Like Gleason, she participated in the USA Hockey National Select camps during her high school career. She has been described as a small, but very athletic goaltender.

Ali Winkel
Forward l  5-7
Espanola, Ont./The Bishop Strachan School/Toronto Jr. Aeros

Winkel comes to Hanover after a stint with the Toronto Jr. Aeros of the Provincial Women's Hockey League, where she was a member of the Gold Medal Championship and winners of the Alumni Cup just this last winter. The team went undefeated in the playoffs with a perfect 7-0 record, while averaging 4.5 goals a game and winning the championship with a 2-1 win over the Mississauga Chiefs. Winkel and Aeros also won Ontario provincials in 2010 with the Aeros. Winkel had two goals an assist during the championship run and in total had seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points during the 34-game season, in which she played 29 games. The Aeros went 29-3-2  last season during the regular year. In addition, she played on the Ontario U-18 team for two years and was captain this past year.
