The following article featuring former Dartmouth standout Cherie Piper appeared August 31 on The Hockey News Web site.
VANCOUVER, B.C. -- Veteran forward Cherie Piper has travelled a
challenging road since helping the Canadian women's hockey team win
gold at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Just a few months after finishing second in scoring behind Hayley
Wickenheiser at the Turin Games, Piper suffered a major knee injury
while playing in a college hockey game. The setback kept her off
the national team for over a year.
Shortly after her return to the team, her father Alan died of a
heart attack in February 2008.
