Dartmouth Participates in "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"

HANOVER, N.H. - On September 28, 2009 "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" traveled to Lyme, N.H., to tell Jay and Elena Marshall that their moldy and rotting home would be rebuilt in seven days. The family has close ties to the hockey community at Dartmouth as their 9-year-old son Cameron along with his older brother Beau and sister Olivia are avid hockey players and have attended numerous hockey camps and clinics at Thompson Arena. Beau and Olivia both play hockey at Hanover High School.

As a way to help the Marshall family, members of the Dartmouth men's and women's hockey teams participated in numerous events at the Marshall family's new home, helping with everything from cleanup to bringing food to the many volunteers.

The men's team was featured in filming footage that may make it into the show.
On Nov. 29 at 8:00 pm the show featuring the Marshall family will air on ABC.

Six years ago, Jay and Elena Marshall bought the perfect home: a home they could live in forever that would easily expand as their family grew. But before they had a chance to build their first addition, an onslaught of problems from carbon monoxide leaks to mold and rotting wood brought the dreams for their home to a halt. Before they could begin tackling the growing list of problems, their 9-year-old son, Cameron, was diagnosed with leukemia. Despite the mounting medical bills and the fear of having to leave their home due to the dangers it presents to Cameron's recovery, the Marshall family came together and rallied their community behind their son's "Be Positive" campaign. The "Be Positive" campaign, named after Cameron's blood type, has already brought in around $40,000 for the Children's Hospital at Darthmoth and leukemia awareness, including $3,500 Cameron raised on his own.

The Emmy award winning reality program "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," now in its 7th season, is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It's executive-produced by Anthony Dominici. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America.
