Clemis Earns Academic Honor

HANOVER, N.H. -- Senior goaltender Carli Clemis (Taber, Atla.) has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team, it was announced on Thursday.

This is the second-straight year Clemis has been honored as an Academic All-District selection as she was named to the second team a season ago. In order to be nominated, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 grade point average for his or her career. Clemis will graduate this spring with a degree in biology with a focus on pre-med.

Clemis appeared between the pipes in a career-high 30 games and recorded a 17-10-2 overall mark and a 10-5-2 record in ECAC Hockey play. She set a career-high with five shutout victories with three of the them coming consecutively as she became the first Dartmouth goaltender to have three-straight wins without giving up a goal. The streak included 212 minutes of shutout hockey, which is also a Big Green record. The three wins came against Quinnipiac, fourth-ranked Boston College and Rensselaer.

Clemis set career Dartmouth records in minutes played (5,770), games played (98) and postseason victories (10). She jumped into third place all-time in goaltending victories, passing Kelley Coyne ’90 with 58 wins. Clemis set the postseason wins record with the championship win over Rensselaer and it was her second tournament championship as the starting netminder for the Big Green. Overall this past season she posted a 2.63 goals against average and a .904 save percentage.

In addition to her on-ice contribution, she has been a model student-athlete off the ice. She has been a team leader for the Relay for Life, a volunteer for the Kidney Foundation of Canada and at Taber Hospital in her hometown. Clemis is also a member of the Alpha Phi International Fraternity, which main philanthropic focus is the American Cancer Society.

Now as a first team member, Clemis will be eligible to become an Academic All-American later this month as she will move on to the national ballot with voting beginning on May 27.
