Dartmouth Set for Pink at the Rink

HANOVER, N.H. -- This Friday the Dartmouth women’s hockey team takes on Clarkson and will be participating in the second annual Pink at the Rink to benefit the American Cancer Society and promote cancer awareness. Fans who wear pink will be admitted to the game for $1 and the first 100 fans will receive pink T-shirts.

The 100 free Dartmouth Athletics T-shirts are courtesy of JMH Wealth Management and in addition to the $1 admission, fans wearing pink will also be placed in a raffle entry for a Norris Cotton Cancer Center hope bracelet.

The successful Pink at the Rink developed by ECAC Hockey and the American Cancer Society has entered its second season of activity and in addition to the women’s game this weekend the program will expand to include all ECAC Hockey men’s teams as well. The variation of the Coaches vs. Cancer is a program originally founded by the American Cancer Society and National Association of Basketball Coaches.

This season’s program will also expand to include Hockey Coaches Care, which is an organization committed to helping members of the amateur hockey community in times of nee, as well as organizations within the amateur hockey community that seek to serve the best interests of its members.

Dartmouth is teaming up with its community and particularly the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at its own Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. The Big Green is doing its part to raise awareness and lend support to those fighting all cancers and recognize the work of those who care for them. The Big Green players will be wrapping their sticks with pink for warm ups and fans can bid on their favorite Big Green skaters’ stick by going to ecachockeycoachesvscancer.com.

The stick wraps will feature logos of all groups involved and the players’ numbers. Bidding for the stick wraps will begin at $75 each and this season there will be no “Buy It Now” feature on the web site. Coaches will don pink neck-ties and scarves that they will sign and be auctioned as well.
