HANOVER, N.H. -- Dartmouth junior forward Sarah Parsons (Dover,
Mass.) is among 58 of the nation’s top women’s ice
hockey players who will convene in Blaine, Minn., for USA
Hockey’s annual Women’s Holiday Camp from Dec. 26 to
Dec. 31.
A member of the U.S. team that won the Four Nations Cup earlier
this month, Parsons has played in five contests to date, scoring
three times and assisting on three goals. She is plus-2.
In 2007-08, Parsons skated in 31 games this season and was third
on the Big Green with 34 points, including a career-high 15 goals.
Parsons finished the season on a 12-game point streak, in which she
tallied 18 points with 10 goals and 18 helpers.
The Holiday Camp serves as a tryout and training session for the
U.S. Women's National Team and U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team,
both of which participate in world championships in the early part
of 2009. The 2009 IIHF Women’s World Championship takes place
Apr. 4-12 in Hameenlinna, Finland and includes the USA, Canada,
China, Finland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.
The U.S. won gold at the event in 2008.
With a 10-member coaching staff on hand, the U.S. athletes will be
split into three teams for daily practices, strength training and
scrimmages
