Parsons to Represent U.S. Again
HANOVER, N.H. -- For the fourth-consecutive year, Dartmouth
junior forward Sarah Parsons (Dover, Mass.) has been chosen to
compete for the United States in the 2008 Four Nations Cup in Lake
Placid, N.Y., from Nov. 4-9.
Parsons is one of 22 skaters for the United States and one of the
18 from the 2008 U.S. National Women’s Team that brought home
gold at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships
in April at Lekland, Sweden. She is also the only representative
that is currently competing in ECAC Hockey or the Ivy League.
“Our roster for the Four Nations Cup is a mix of both
seasoned veterans and young rising talent,” said Katey Stone,
head coach for Team USA and also the head women’s ice hockey
coach at Harvard University. “We are looking forward to the
event in Lake Placid and representing our country in the best
possible manner.”
At the 2007 Four Nations Cup, Parsons tallied two goals and helped
the United States make the gold medal game, before falling to
Canada and former teammates Gillian Apps ’06 and Katie
Weatherston ’06.
The Four Nations Cup is a round-robin tournament that showcases the
select teams from the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden.
The four teams will play each other, followed by the gold and
bronze medal games on the final day of the tournament on Nov.
9.
Joining Parsons at the cup are Apps and Cherie Piper ’06, who
will be competing for Team Canada. Apps will be making her fourth
appearance for Canada, while Piper will be skating for the second
time in the Four Nations Cup. Weatherston made the Canadian squad,
but will not be playing because of an injury.
