HANOVER, N.H. -- Reagan Fischer, an incoming freshman at Dartmouth, was named the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League's Most Valuable Player and earned two more awards, including the League's Players Player.
Fischer earned the League's Leading Scorer Award as well after posting 66 points in 27 games for the Lloydminster PWM Steelers during the regular season. Her 32 goals and 34 assists led the league and her seven shorthanded goals were also tops.
The AMMFHL describes the MVP as one who combines ability, leadership by example and dedication to the game of hockey both on and off the ice. The league factors in community involvement, hockey stats and academic performance as well.
The League's Player's Player is presented to the teammate and opponent who their peers perceive as one of the best all around skaters. Some of the criteria for the award includes: sportsmanship, tenacious opposition and a player you would want to contribute on your team.
Fischer is from Irma, Alberta, and competed for Team Alberta in 2006-07. She is one of seven new skaters that will be joining the Big Green this upcoming season.
