Freshmen Fortify Defense for Cornell

The formula for the Cornell women's first ECAC Hockey
regular-season title is a little unconventional.
Subtract an Olympian in Rebecca Johnston, count heavily on two
freshmen defensemen, field a slim roster of 18 players -- all while
relying on the leadership of just four seniors.
That equation and the Big Red's knack for timely goals is how
Cornell (15-8-6) clinched its first league crown. On four occasions
the Big Red scored goals with under two minutes left to force
overtime. Two of those game-tying tallies came with under 15
seconds left in regulation.
