The Big Red opens the year by welcoming the national runners-up, Mercyhurst, to Lynah Rink for a two-game set on Oct. 23 and 24. Mercyhurst won the College Hockey America title last season and advanced to the national championship game before being downed by Wisconsin in the final in Boston, Mass. The road for the Big Red doesn't get any easier, as Dartmouth and Harvard visit Lynah Rink the following weekend to open up ECAC Hockey play.

Cornell will be home for four of the eight games in November, featuring home contests against Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Nov. 13-14 and a two-game, non-conference series against Niagara on Nov. 28-29. The Big Red takes to the road to face Union and Rensselaer on Nov. 6-7 and again to face Princeton and Quinnipiac on Nov. 20-21. The fall semester concludes with the Big Red home against Yale and Brown on Dec. 4-5.

As the calendar turns to January, Cornell will play a single game against second-year program Syracuse on Jan. 5 before taking to the road to face Providence in a two-game set in Rhode Island on Jan. 8-9 to close out non-league action. Cornell will be at home for just one more game in January, taking on Colgate in a Jan. 23 contest. The Big Red's five other games will all take place away from the friendly confines of Lynah Rink.

Cornell closes out the regular season with three weekends in February, two of them being played in Ithaca. Cornell opens the month at home against Quinnipiac and Princeton on Feb. 5-6 before heading to Yale and Brown the following weekend. The regular season concludes on Feb. 19-20 with Rensselaer and Union visiting Lynah Rink.

Cornell finished the 2008-09 season with a 12-14-5 record overall and an 8-9-5 mark in ECAC Hockey action. The Big Red advanced to the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals for the second straight season before falling to top-seeded Harvard.
