Team Notes: Big Red to Play Host to Niagara

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Big Red women’s ice hockey team
will play two non-conference games this weekend as it plays host to
Niagara on Saturday and Sunday. Cornell will take on the Purple
Eagles at 4 p.m. on Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday in Lynah Rink.
Both games will be available via live stats.
At the Helm
Doug Derraugh `91 returns for his fourth season as the head coach
of the Cornell women’s ice hockey team. The Big Red has a
29-62-5 record under Derraugh’s tutelage. He is once again
joined by assistant coaches Danielle Bilodeau ’01 and Kim
Insalaco (Brown ’05).
Scouting the Purple Eagles
Niagara brings a 3-9-2 overall record into the weekend. Last
weekend, the Purple Eagles defeated Brown 4-2 before skating to a
2-2 deadlock with Providence. Ashley Riggs leads her team with 15
points including eight goals and seven assists, while Frances
McPhail has 12 points with three goals and nine assists. Jenni
Baver has been a mainstay in net for Niagara with a 3-8-2 record
with a .892 save percentage and 3.67 goals against average.
