Johnston Set to Play in 4 Nations Cup
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell women's ice hockey's freshman Rebecca
Johnston is set to play for Team Canada in the 4 Nations Cup held
in Leksand, Sweden, from Nov. 7-11.
Canada will take on Sweden in an exhibition game on Nov. 6 before
beginning the competition on Nov. 7, when it will face off against
Finland. The tournament consists of three round-robin games for
each team before the top two teams play for gold and the bottom two
compete for bronze. Team Canada has won three straight titles, and
has won nine of the 11 4 Nations Cups. The 4 Nations Cup is an
annual international event that includes the top four ranked
women's hockey programs in the world, Canada, USA, Sweden and
Finland.
In six games with the Big Red this season, Johnston leads the team
with nine points, including six goals and three assists. She ranks
first in the nation in points per game among rookies averaging
1.50, and is tied for 10th overall. Johnston was a
two-time member of the under-22 Canadian national team. She tallied
eight goals and five assists in five games for the gold medal
winning Ontario team at the Canada Games last winter.
