Senécal Joins Colgate Coaching Staff
HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Colgate head
women’s ice hockey coach Scott
Wiley has announced the hiring of Karine
Senécal as a new assistant coach.
"We are thrilled to have Karine join our staff," stated Wiley.
“We were very fortunate to attract someone who has had a very
successful playing career as well as division I coaching
experience. Her knowledge of the game and her background in all
facets of coaching will be a huge benefit to our players. She will
be a tremendous asset to our program."
Senécal comes to Colgate after serving as an assistant
coach for the women's ice hockey team at the University of Maine
since 2007. While at Maine, her duties included recruiting players,
coordinating team travel, working with players individually, game
management and organizing community service activities, and was
also the director of the UMaine summer ice hockey camp and youth
clinics.
Prior to her position at Maine she was an assistant coach for the
Quebec Provincial Tournament team in 2004. Senécal also has
experience as a camp coach at the Toronto Prospect Camp, the
Shaskechewan Showcase, the Brebeuf Euro Elite Hockey Camp and the
USA Maine Hockey Camp.
A 2007 graduate of the University of Maine, Senécal earned
a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and physical education
before later completing her master’s degree in exercise
science in 2009. During her four years as an undergraduate,
Senécal was also a member of the women’s ice hockey
team at Maine where she earned Hockey East Academic honors among
other awards.
