Sass Honored at Colgate All-Sports Banquet

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Goaltender Kimberly Sass (East Amherst, N.Y.) was named Colgate’s Female Rookie of the Year at the University’s second annual all-sports banquet Wednesday night at Cotterell Court. The evening honored all 25 varsity sports teams and over 500 student-athletes.

Sass is the first women’s player to win three ECAC Hockey awards in a single season.  The freshman was named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year, ECAC first-team, and earned a spot on the ECAC All-Rookie team. Sass was also tagged ECAC Rookie of the Week five times over the season and set the Colgate single-season school record with 14 wins.

Sass led the ECAC with a .941 save percentage, while ranking sixth with 1.85 goals-against average and fourth with a .656 winning percentage. Sass set numerous Colgate records over the course of the season in becoming the first Raiders goaltender to earn first-team ECAC honors.
