Team Notes: Raiders Open Home Schedule

The Raiders will open their home schedule this weekend Oct.
23-24, playing a two-game set against Wayne State. The squads
will face off at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Scouting the Opposition Wayne
State- The Warriors will enter Starr Rink with a
record of 0-2-2, with a tie and loss to both RPI and Boston
University. Last weekend, Wayne State finished in a 4-4 draw
against the Terriers on Friday before dropping their Saturday game
to Boston, 4-2. Senior Katrina Protopapas led the Warriors for
the weekend tallying a total of three goals between the two games.
Freshmen Julie Hebert and Jaclyn Stapleton each collected one
goal in the tie, while sophomore Alyssa Baldin picked up a goal in
Saturday's loss. Protopapas currently leads the Warriors in
scoring this season with three goals and one assist followed by
Hebert with two goals and Gina Buquet with one goal and one assist.
Head coach Jim Fetter is beginning his seventh season with
the Wayne State women's hockey program. Fetter has a career
record of 100-84-18 with the Warriors, capped off by two of his
most successful seasons yet during the 2007-08 (22-9-3) and 2008-09
(21-9-2) campaigns.
Last Time Out The Raiders continued their non-conference
schedule last weekend as they took on Providence College and the
University of Connecticut. Colgate suffered a 4-1 loss to the
Friars on Friday with senior Katie Stewart (Exeter, Ont.) netting
the lone goal while junior Lisa Plenderleith (Ajax, Ont.) collected
27 saves in goal. The Raiders picked up their first win
of the season against the Huskies, a 5-2 victory in which Colgate
held the lead for the entire game. Sophomore goaltender
Kimberly Sass (East Amherst, N.Y.) made 32 saves for the win, while
freshman Brittany Phillips (Lauder, Man.) picked up her first
career goal and the eventual game-winner. Seniors Ali Edell
(Mountain Lakes, N.J.) and Marissa Dombovy (Webster, N.Y.) each
scored once along with freshman Jordan Brickner (Lake Forest, Ill.)
and sophomore Jacquie Colborne (Calgary, Alta.). Colgate is
1-3-0 overall heading into this weekend's games.
