Hunt Named Top Performer in NCAA Skills Challenge
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Colgate women’s hockey senior Sam Hunt
(Calgary, Alta.) ended her collegiate career as the Top Female
Performer in the NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge, April 11.
Hunt’s performance helped the East double-up the West
16-8.
After dropping the first event of the night, Hunt responded by
scoring a team high two points for the East.
In the opening event, Hunt had the lead as the anchor of the puck
control relay, only to lose the puck after looking to see where
Wayne State’s Melissa Boal was. Hunt never regained
possession of the puck as the West won the opening event.
Hunt answered back with the hardest shot of the night 75.3.
Hunt’s first shot was her hardest and followed with a 70.3.
Her shot stood as the hardest of the evening earning one point for
the East.
Hunt capped her night scoring on the penalty-shot to collect
another East point. Hunt started from the goaltenders left side and
began to break to the right, before reversing back to the left with
one handed shot through the five hole.
The East team is now a perfect 2-0 in the Skills Challenge with a
Raider on board. The East won the 2006 inaugural event after
Allison Paiano ’06 netted the winning penalty-shot.
