Colgate Partners with American Cancer Society
HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Colgate has partnered with the American Cancer
Society for 2008 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The
event is scheduled for Sunday, October 5, at the Recreation Park in
Binghamton, N.Y.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is more than just the name of
a walk; it describes the progress being made in the fight against
breast cancer.
“We just want to continue to do something to help fight
cancer” stated Raiders’ head coach Scott Wiley
“Last year we joined with “Pink at the Rink” and
this year the ECAC is still involved with the American Cancer
Society. The league and the coaches continue to do a great job to
support the cause and this is a way for us to continue our plan.
People with our program have friends and family directly affected
with cancer, coaching staff as well, we just want to make sure that
we never forget that and try to raise as much money as we
can.”
Last year with “Pink at the Rink”, the Raiders raised
$16,000 for the American Cancer Society, while the ECAC Hockey
League combined to raise $41,000. The Colgate goal for the
Binghamton walk is $5,200.
Wiley added the steps to reaching the new goal “What
we’ve done is challenged every player to raise $200
each,” said Wiley. “Our team goal of raising $5,200 in
the next nine days and we are about 25% there. So we’re
looking for a great effort from our friends and family who want to
help us make a difference.”
Those wishing to make donations or join the team for support on
