Colgate Announces Addition to Class of 2012
HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Colgate University head women's hockey coach Scott Wiley has announced an addition to the incoming class. Joining the four other committed student-athletes as the Class of 2012, is forward Heidi Peterson.
A native of Hastings, Minn., Peterson played five years on the Hastings girls varsity team, and played two post-grad years at The Hotchkiss School. The Bearcats finished second in the Founder's League this season and completed the year with a 21-4-1 record. The team was Taft Tournament champions and took second in New Englands, losing to Nobles in overtime of the championship game.
Peterson was an all-conference selection in 2005 and 2006, was team captain both years. She earned the team's most valuable player, most valuable offensive player and the Spirit Award. During high school, she also lettered in soccer, softball and golf.
Since enrolling at Hotchkiss, Peterson has played with the Connecticut Stars. The Stars went to USAH National Tournament and beat Shattuck St. Mary's before falling to Chicago Mission in the semifinals
The Raiders' 2008-09 campaign gets underway on Wednesday, Oct. 1, hosting Syracuse, in the Orange's first collegiate season.
