Hunt Selected to Canada Under-22 Team

TORONTO -- Colgate's Sam Hunt has been named to the Canadian National Under-22 Team, it was announced by Hockey Canada.

The announcement comes following a seven-day selection camp in Toronto, attended by 40 of Canada's top Under-22 female hockey players. Hunt is one of the top 20 players that were named to the roster.

"These were certainly not easy selections to make," said National Women's Under-22 Team head coach Dan Church. "The camp once again shows the depth of women's hockey in this country, and we are very pleased with the players chosen."

Hunt is the third Raiders player in Colgate history to be named to a Canadian U-22 team. Tara French '07 and Becky Irvine '06 were members of the team in 2005-06.

The team will travel to Lake Placid, N.Y., for a three-game exhibition series with the USA's National U-22 Team from Aug. 23-26.

Hunt has led the Raiders in scoring in each of her two seasons at Colgate. She has climbed the scoring chart and currently ranks ninth all-time with 71 points in 68 games.   She helped Colgate advance to the ECAC Hockey semifinals for the first time in program history in 2006-07, as she tied the single-season mark for points and goals in a season with 39 and 20, respectively. During the season she also set a Colgate record for the most consecutive games scoring at least one point, amassing 21 points along 14 games.

A USCHO National Offensive Player of the Week, Hunt was named second-team all ECAC Hockey, after being named to the league's weekly honor roll seven times.
