Plendeleith Named USCHO.com Defensive Player of Week

HAMILTON, N.Y.  -- Colgate goaltender Lisa Plenderleith (Ajax, Ont.) was named the USCHO National Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.

Plenderleith earned her first career start at No. 3/4 New Hampshire on Sunday, Oct. 14. The freshman made 41 saves in her collegiate debut and kept the Wildcats scoreless for nearly 58 minutes. Her 41 saves are the most saves by a Colgate goalie in her collegiate debut since Jen Burtaw made 44 stops against St. Lawrence in 1999.

The 1-0 game is the narrowest margin of victory in the series, and the first time UNH has been held to just one goal in series history.

This is Colgate's second USCHO defensive award, as Brook Wheeler '07 earned the honor on January 14, 2006.

The Raiders host Providence on Friday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m., in the home opener.
