Matteucci Earns Spot on Baseball Canada National Team
Ella Matteucci (Fruitvale, BC), an incoming freshman
for Clarkson, has proven herself to be a two-sport standout,
having earned a spot on Baseball Canada's Women's National
Team. The squad of 20 players will be playing a seven-game
exhibition series in Cary, NC at USA Baseball's National Training
Center the week of August 2-7.
Matteucci, who threw a no-hitter in a high school game
for the Notre Dame Hounds this past June, was one of five
newcomers to Baseball Canada's WNT. The team will compete against a
pair of USA women's teams as well as the Raleigh Red Sox, a men's
club team. The exhibition series is a warm up for the WNT as they
prepare for the 2012 Women's World Cup which will be held in
Edmonton, Alberta.
