Clarkson Trio Invited to Canada's Under-22 Camp
Katelyn Ptolemy, a standout veteran for the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team, and Erica Howe and Jamie Lee Rattray, two promising Golden Knights recruits, are among a group of 36 skaters (forwards and defencemen) who have been invited to Canada’s National Women's Under-22 Team selection camp, August 6-15 at the Mastercard Centre in Toronto, Ont., Hockey Canada announced Friday.
Ptolemy is defenseman from Dinsmore, SASK., who is entering her junior year at Clarkson. A native of Orleans, ONT, Howe is an incoming freshman goaltender. Rattray, who will join Howe this season at Clarkson, is a forward from Kanata, Ont.
The players were selected to be part of the selection camp based on evaluations done by Hockey Canada regional scouts during the 2009-10 season. These evaluations included performances with Canada's national team, under-18 and under-22 programs and their club teams, along with the National Women's Under-22 Team strength and conditioning camp in May in Calgary, among other criteria.

The players attending camp are eligible to represent Canada at the 2011 MLP Cup in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland in early January. Canada has won the tournament seven times in eight years, losing just two games. Hockey Canada will use the camp to select 22 players for a three-game series against the United States' Women's Under-22 Select Team on August 18, 19 and 21 in Toronto.
Two players invited to camp, Johnston and Marie-Philip Poulin, won a gold medal with Canada's National Women's Team at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, B.C., and two players, Brianne Jenner and Jennifer Wakefield, were centralized with Canada's National Women's Team prior to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games before joining Canada's National Women's Under-22 Team for the 2010 MLP Cup.
In addition, thirteen players, including Fortino, Rougeau and White) return from last year's National Women's Under-22 Team, while 11 members of Canada's gold medal-winning 2010 National Women's Under-18 Team will attend the camp.
The National Women's Under-22 Team selection camp will see the 36 skaters divided into two teams – Blue and Yellow – which will take part in practices and intersquad games. The camp will be held in conjunction with the National Women's Under-18 Team selection camp, and will see the U22 teams take on teams of U18 hopefuls – Red and White.
