Team Notes: Third-Ranked Clarkson Closes Out Lengthy Road Trip
The following article appeared January 20 on the Clarkson Web site.
Ranked third in the country in the national polls and sitting
atop the ECAC Hockey standings with the best winning percentage
(.864%) in the conference, the Clarkson University Women’s
Hockey team enters the stretch run this weekend with a pair of
league games in New England. Guided by second-year co-head coaches
Shannon and Matt Desrosiers, the Golden Knights close out a
six-game road trip, playing at Yale on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and at
Brown on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
After closing out the non-league portion of the schedule at
#1-ranked Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA last weekend, Clarkson
will look to secure its position as the best team in ECAC Hockey.
The Green and Gold, who own a 9-1-1 conference mark, are currently
tied with Cornell for first place in the 12-team league but have a
game in hand on the Big Red. Led by senior captain Britney Selina
(Thornhill, ONT) and senior assistant captain Carlee Eusepi
(Oakville, ONT), the Knights stand at 15-5-3 overall.
This past weekend at top-ranked Mercyhurst, Clarkson battled the
Lakers in two high-scoring affairs. The Knights lost the Friday
night game, 6-3, but came back on Saturday afternoon to gain a 5-5
tie.
