The following article appeared March 3 on the Clarkson Web site.
After a thrilling quarterfinal series victory over its archrival
in the opening round of the ECAC Hockey playoffs, the Clarkson
University Women’s Hockey team is one win away from playing
in its first ever league tournament championship game. The Golden
Knights will face a stern test in their attempt to advance as they
host perennial national powerhouse Harvard University in
Friday’s semifinal game at Cheel Arena beginning at 7:00
p.m.
Ranked sixth in the nation by both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA
Hockey Magazine national polls, the Golden Knights own a 22-10-5
overall record. Guided by second-year co-head coaches Shannon and
Matt Desrosiers, Clarkson is the number two seed in the conference
playoffs after posting the best league record in the history of the
seven-year program with a 14-5-3 ECAC Hockey mark.
If the Knights, win on Friday, they will play on Sunday at #1-seed
Cornell in Ithaca, or host fifth-seeded Rensselaer at Cheel. Game
time for the ECAC title contest is slated for 4:00 p.m.
