Team Notes: Clarkson Begins Five-Game New York State Road Trip
The following article appeared January 20 on the Clarkson Web site.
Unbeaten in its last five games, including four straight wins,
and posting a 9-1-2 mark since mid-November, the Clarkson
University Women’s Hockey team is at near peak performance
playing for first-year co-head coaches Shannon and Matt Desrosiers.
With 12 games remaining in the regular season, the Golden Knights
stand at 12-6-4 overall and are tied for fifth place in ECAC Hockey
with a 6-2-2 league mark. The Green and Gold have 14 points in the
standings, six points behind league-leader Dartmouth. Clarkson,
however, is well positioned to move toward the top spot having
played, along with travel partner St. Lawrence, the fewest games in
conference action at 10 apiece.
Clarkson, led by senior captain Kimberly McKenney (Smiths Falls,
ONT), begins a five-game New York State road trip on Wednesday
night. The Knights make the short jaunt down Route 11 to Canton to
take on the fourth-ranked Saints at Appleton Arena in the first
game of their North Country series and then closes out the week in
the Capital District playing at Rensselaer and Union this
weekend.
Senior Marie-Jo Gaudet (Sherbrooke, QUE) and junior Britney Selina
(Thornhill, ONT) highlighted a two-game sweep at Cheel Arena this
past weekend as the Green and Gold closed out an eight-game home
stand by defeating Yale and Brown. Playing its first league games
in over a month, Clarkson resumed ECAC Hockey play in strong
fashion by posting a 4-1 win over the Bulldogs on Friday and
skating past Brown 2-1 on Saturday.
