Team Notes: Golden Knights Resume League Play
The following article appeared January 13 on the Clarkson Web site.
A lengthy layoff after the first semester did not seem to slow
down the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team, which
opened the new year with a non-league series sweep at Cheel Arena
this past weekend. Playing in their first games in 33 days, the
Golden Knights started off 2009 by defeating Maine 3-2 and 4-1 to
complete the non-league portion of their schedule.
Guided by first-year co-head coaches Shannon and Matt Desrosiers,
Clarkson owns a 10-6-4 overall record and is riding a three-game
unbeaten streak (2-0-1) as it resumes ECAC Hockey play this
weekend. The Green and Gold host Yale, 7:00 p.m., and Brown, 4:00
p.m., this Friday and Saturday at Cheel Arena to close out an
eight-game home stand.
Clarkson, led by senior captain Kimberly McKenney (Smiths Falls,
ONT), is 7-1-2 since mid-November. With 14 league games remaining,
seven at home and seven on the road, the Knights are tied for sixth
in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 4-2-2 conference mark. Clarkson
is four points out of fourth place, but has games in hand on the
current top four teams.
