Team Notes: Clarkson Looks to Build Upon Momentum
The following article appeared November 18 on the Clarkson
Web site.
Riding plenty of momentum after gaining three of four points
against two of the top teams in the nation this past Friday and
Saturday at Cheel Arena, the Clarkson University Women’s
Hockey team takes to the road for the final time in the 2008
portion of the schedule this weekend. Guided by first-year co-head
coaches Shannon and Matt Desrosiers, the Golden Knights travel to
the southern regions of ECAC Hockey to take on Quinnipiac
University on Friday in Hamden, CT for a 7:00 p.m. contest and then
play at Princeton University on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in New
Jersey.
Receiving votes in the latest national polls, Clarkson, led by
senior captain Kimberly McKenney (Smiths Falls, ONT), owns a 4-5-3
overall record and is tied for fifth place in the conference
standings with a 2-1-1 conference mark. The Knights are brimming
with confidence after a solid weekend of play in Potsdam against a
pair of national powerhouses. Last Friday, the Green and Gold held
4th-ranked Harvard scoreless for the first time in 39 games as the
Knights won 2-0, and then followed with a 2-2 tie against
3rd-ranked Dartmouth with the Big Green preventing the Clarkson
weekend sweep by scoring the tying goal with 55 seconds remaining
in regulation.
Sophomore Lauren Dahm (Baldwinsville, NY) was very sharp over the
weekend. Dahm made a career-high 35 saves, including 16 in the
third period, against Harvard to record her second straight shutout
and her seventh career whitewash. Against Dartmouth, she came
through with a 23-save effort, allowing only a power-play marker
and a goal in the final minute of regulation. In the two games
against the highly-rated foes she posted a .967 save percentage and
a 0.96 GAA.
