Team Notes: Clarkson Begins Long Homestand
The following article appeared November 11 on the Clarkson Web site.
After battling on the road in eight of their first 10 games, the
Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team plays 10 of their
next 12 contests at Cheel Arena, beginning with this
weekend’s series against Harvard and Dartmouth. Guided by
first-year co-head coaches Shannon and Matt Desrosiers, the Golden
Knights own a 3-5-2 overall record and are 1-1 in ECAC Hockey
play.
No stranger to nationally-ranked competition, having skated
against highly-rated foes in their first six contests to open the
season, the Green and Gold face another stern test this weekend as
they begin their ECAC Hockey home campaign at Cheel Arena by
hosting NCAA Division I powerhouses Harvard and Dartmouth.
Clarkson will look to raise its level of play to match this
week’s opponents after going 1-2-1 on its recently completed
four-game road trip. The Knights, led by senior captain Kimberly
McKenney (Smiths Falls, NY) and senior assistant captains Marie-Jo
Gaudet (Sherbrooke, QUE) and Courtney O’Connor (Chicago, IL)
began conference action with a split in New England this past
weekend. On Friday, Clarkson overwhelmed Brown 6-0 in Providence,
RI as six different Knights scored goals, and sophomore Lauren Dahm
(Baldwinsville, NY) posted the team’s first shutout of the
year and her sixth career whitewash behind an 11-save effort. In
New Haven, CT on Saturday, Clarkson suffered a one-goal loss to
Yale, falling 3-2. Freshman Juana Baribeau (Amos, QUE) and junior
Britney Selina (Thornhill, ONT) scored goals and sophomore Eve
Grandmont-Berube (Drummondville, QUE) made 23 saves. The Knights
appeared to tie the game against the Bulldogs with a last-second
goal, but the officials waved it off. It was the fourth time this
season, that Clarkson has had an apparent goal disallowed.
