The following article appeared November 4 on the Clarkson Web site.
With a difficult opening non-league portion of the schedule out
of the way, the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team
enters ECAC Hockey action this weekend with another trip to New
England. The Golden Knights, guided by first-year co-head coaches
Shannon and Matt Desrosiers, own a 2-4-2 overall record after
playing several games against nationally-ranked foes to start the
2008-09 season.
Clarkson will look for a quick start to the highly competitive
league campaign when it plays at Brown and Yale Universities this
weekend in Providence, RI and New Haven, CT, respectively. The
Knights face off against the Bears in Meehan Auditorium at 7:00
p.m. on Friday night, and then play the Bulldogs at Ingalls Rink on
Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
Clarkson is coming off its best ECAC Hockey record in its first
four years in the conference last season when it posted a 13-6-3,
fourth-place conference mark in 2007-08. The Knights, led by senior
captain Kimberly McKenney (Smiths Falls, ONT) and senior assistant
captains Marie-Jo Gaudet (Sherbrooke, QUE) and Courtney
O’Connor (Chicago, IL), are the coaches’ preseason
choice to finish fourth again this year.
