Team Notes: Clarkson Takes Six-Game Unbeaten Streak into Final Games of 2008
The following article appeared December 2 on the Clarkson Web site.
Playing its best hockey of the season, the Clarkson University
Women’s Hockey team will look to close out the 2008 portion
of the schedule on a successful note as it hosts Central NY rivals
Cornell and Colgate in ECAC Hockey action this weekend at Cheel
Arena. Guided by first-year co-head coaches Shannon and Matt
Desrosiers, the Golden Knights enter the final games before the
exam/holiday break riding a six-game (5-0-1) unbeaten streak. The
Green and Gold, who are on the verge of cracking the Top 10 in the
national polls (USCHO.com, USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine), own an
8-5-3 overall record and are tied for fourth in the conference with
a 4-1-1 ECAC Hockey mark.
Clarkson, led by senior captain Kimberly McKenney (Smiths Falls,
ONT), opened an eight-game home stand in impressive fashion this
past weekend with a dominating non-league sweep of Hockey East foe
Vermont, which put the six-year-old NCAA program over the all-time
100-win mark.
The ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, freshman Juana Baribeau (Amos,
QUE) provided all of the Clarkson’s offensive fireworks in
Saturday’s 4-2 victory, becoming the fourth Golden Knight in
six years to tally four goals in a game. Sophomore goaltender
Lauren Dahm (Baldwinsville, NY) backstopped another stingy
defensive effort with 19 saves.
