Team Notes: Clarkson Faces Challenging Start
A challenging start to the 2008-09 campaign begins for the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team and first year co-head coaches Shannon and Matt Desrosiers this weekend. After skating to an exhibition win at Cheel Arena this past Saturday, Clarkson officially opens its sixth season of Division I play on Saturday, October 4 with the first of two games against nationally-ranked Boston College at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Golden Knights face off against the 10th-ranked Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and again on Sunday.

Clarkson’s first six games of the season are against teams ranked among the top 12 in the nation in the preseason USA Today/USA Hockey Women’s Poll. After the weekend series at Boston College, the Green and Gold are off next week before resuming play with a return trip to New England. The Knights play at 12th-ranked Boston University on Saturday, October 18 and then take on 4th-rated University of New Hampshire the following afternoon.
The Knights’ first home stand of the season comes on October 24-25 when they host 6th-ranked Mercyhurst College in a pair of weekend afternoon games at Cheel Arena.
