Facing Off With Ashley Kilstein

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Ever wonder which team is the toughest to play against or which arena is most hostile to opposing players; what players are most respected by their peers; or what types of food, music and books are on the top of a player's list? You can find out each week as ECAC Hockey "faces off" with a student-athlete from each  of the league's 12 member institutions. This week's featured student-athlete is Ashley Kilstein of Union.

Julia Bronson, Dartmouth

8.     Best all-around opposing goaltender?

9.     Most memorable college hockey game?
First game of my college career versus Clarkson.  Registered my first point in the opening minutes, and that on-ice celebration was one to remember.

10.   Biggest thrill as an ECAC Hockey player?
Scoring against Brown my sophomore year to tie the game up at 2-2.

11.    Favorite NHL team?
Philadelphia Flyers

12.    Favorite NHL player?
Rod Brind'Amour

13.    What are your plans after college?
I plan on attending Law School and becoming a Entertainment Lawyer.

14.    Favorite college class/subject?
I cannot pass up a good English class, namely anything about the American West.

15.    Best book you've ever read?
Toss up between Catcher in The Rye and The Odyssey.

16.    Best movie you've ever seen?
I enjoy mindless comedies, so anything with Will Ferrell. Anchorman is a favorite.

17.    Best all time TV show?
30 Rock

18.    Favorite musical artists?
Kanye West

19.    Person you most admire?
I most admire my mother's parents, for working their way up in their pharmacy in Northeast Philadelphia, instilling the importance of family in myself, and for allowing me to see the humor in everything.

20.    What are you most thankful for?
I am most thankful for my family.  Though I have thought about it, I would not trade them for anything.

21.    If you could have any superpower...what would it be and why?
If I could have any super power, it would definitely have to be the ability to beam myself anywhere.  That would be a great way to start a conversation.

22.   Favorite sport besides hockey?
My favorite sport, besides hockey, would have to be tennis; it's one of the finer social sports.

23.    What made you choose Union?
I'm a big fan of the small school atmosphere.  I pride myself on pretty much knowing everyone here.  Combine that with engaging academics, exceptional facilities, outstanding people, and a hockey program on the rise. How could you not choose Union?

24.   One thing that fans wouldn't expect about you?
I can recite almost every Will Ferrell and Mike Myers movie, and I'm often found doing Borat impressions as much as I can.

25.   You are being exiled to a deserted island and you are allowed to take two items and one of your teammates, which teammate and what two items are you bringing with you and why?
I would bring Marissa Gentile, because I would get an enormous amount of entertainment watching her freak out.  Also, she can keep herself busy with almost anything.  I would bring Crossfire, the popular board game from the 1990s, and a flare gun (in case I eventually decide we should be rescued).
