2013 ECAC Women's Hockey Championship
ALBANY, N.Y. -- ECAC Hockey crowned its 2013 Women's Tournament
Champion Sunday, March 10 as Cornell edged rival Harvard, 2-1 in
front of a lively crowd at historic Lynah Rink.
Hosting the league marquee event for the fourth consecutive season, Cornell doubled-up defending tournament champion St. Lawrence, 4-2 Saturday at 1 p.m. in a re-match of last year’s championship final. Forward Taylor Woods netted her first-career hat trick to pace the Big Red offense. Lauren Slebodnick earned her 50th career win, making 25 saves for the Big Red.
The Crimson, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, benefited from freshmen Mary Parker, who tied her career-high with three points, and Emerance Maschmeyer, who made 26 saves, to cruise into the title game with a 4-2 win over No. 2 Clarkson.
In the championhip contest Jessica Campbell scored a power-play goal with 1 minute, 40 seconds remaining, leading the Big Red to a 2-1 victory over Harvard to lock-up the team's third ECAC Hockey championship in the last four years.
