Weekend Preview: Early Tests on Tap

ALBANY, N.Y. - Ten ECAC Hockey women’s teams will be in action in both league and non-conference play over the weekend, each faced with an early test. The weekend features teams looking to snap a variety of streaks; an intra-state battle; and league points up for grabs.
 
Brown/Yale at Princeton/Quinnipiac
*Sally Butler is the Tiger's leading scorer with three goals and two assists for five points.
*At both Princeton women's hockey team home games the team will be collecting funds for the Mandy Schwartz Foundation. The mission of the Mandi Schwartz Foundation is to provide immediate and ongoing support to youth hockey players with cancer.
*Princeton owns a 34-29-2 advantage in the all-time series with Brown, which began in 1980. The Tigers won both meetings last year, earning a 4-0 shutout at home and a 4-2 win on the road.
*Brown is 1-1-1 with its win against Sacred Heart, while earning a tie against Colgate and a loss at Cornell.
*Quinnipiac had lost four in a row prior to this past weekend, when the Bobcats went on the road and got conference wins at RPI and Union.
*The Bobcats are still looking to get its power-play on track, as it has gone 0-for-15 with the man-advantage over that past four games.
*Quinnipiac leads the nation in fewest penalty minutes per game (6.5).
*Yale’s netminders Genny Ladiges and her freshman counterpart Jaimie Leonoff combined to average nearly 38 saves per contest and have saved over 44 shots per game.
*Senior Katelyn Landry and sophomore Emilie Dolan both have four points for Brown with Landry's all coming by way of goals. The pair have also combined for two short handed goals.

Colgate at Niagara
*Junior Brittany Phillips continues to lead Colgate in scoring with 14 points from five goals and nine assists.
*Colgate has a 1-2 mark on the road this season, with its only win coming over Syracuse 3-1 on Oct. 19.
*This will be the 19th meeting between the two teams, with Colgate owning a 10-7-1 winning record since they first met in the 1999-00 season.
*Niagara’s four wins this season have come at the expense of ECAC Hockey teams (Yale, Princeton and twice over Rensselaer).
*Freshman netminder Abby Ryplanski has been solid for Niagara, earning a 3-1-1 record, with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.

St. Lawrence/Clarkson at Rensselaer/Union
*The Golden Knights will look to extend their perfect 16-0 mark against Union Friday when they face off against the Dutchwomen at Messa Rink in Schenectady.
*Recording at least one point in eight of the first 10 games, Jamie Lee Rattray leads the Golden Knights in scoring with 15 points, including 10 assists.
*St. Lawrence, under the direction of third-year head coach Chris Wells, is led in scoring by sophomore forward Rylee Smith (4g, 4a) and senior forward Karell Emard (3g, 5a), who each have eight points.
*The Saints own a 12-1-0 record against Rensselaer in their history.
*Senior captain and center Alisa Harrison leads the Engineers in scoring through 10 games with five goals and three assists for eight points.
*Rensselaer is looking to snap a six-game winless streak (0-5-1) heading into Friday’s game against St. Lawrence.
*Union picked up non-league wins over Sacred Heart (9-2) and Syracuse (4-3, ot) earlier in the season.
*Union posts a 2-7 overall record and a 0-2 mark in ECAC Hockey after losing two games at home this past weekend. The Dutchwomen suffered a tough 2-1 loss to Princeton Friday and then fell 5-1 to Quinnipiac Saturday.

At Dartmouth, New Hampshire
*Lindsay Holdcroft has started all three games in net for the Big Green and her numbers include a 1.95 GAA and .935 save percentage; she made 24 saves to shutout St. Lawrence.
*UNH has a 33-12-4 lifetime record, including last year's 1-0 victory at the Whittemore Center, against intrastate rival Dartmouth.
*The Wildcats are winners of four straight in this series by an aggregate score of 16-5 and are 6-1-1 against Dartmouth the past five seasons.
*Dartmouth has outscored the opposition in both the first and second periods – 3-1 and 3-2, respectively – but the opposition has the 3-0 scoring edge in the final frame.
