Three ECAC Hockey Teams Featured in National Polls

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The latest national polls (USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls) released Monday, January 30 and Tuesday, January 31 feature three ECAC Hockey teams - Cornell, Harvard, and Dartmouth.

Cornell (14-2-0, 19-3-0) fell one spot to the No. 3 position in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll (154 points) and the USCHO.com poll (122 points). The Big Red earned a split last weekend in their visit to the North Country, downing St. Lawrence, 6-4 Friday and dropping a league game to Clarkson, 5-3. Cornell still holds a five-point lead in league play over Harvard, which jumped idle Quinnipiac to move into second place. Cornell will play its next weekend's games at home when it hosts Rensselaer and Union Friday and Saturday.

Harvard (11-4-1, 14-6-1) continues to climb the charts in the national polls as it moved up one spot to No. 7 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll earning 73 points and moved up to the No. 8 position in the USCHO.com poll (50 points) after posting two shutout league wins last weekend, 8-0 over Yale and 3-0 over Brown. Four of Harvard's last five wins have come via shutout and have all come during conference play. Since the New Year, Harvard has allowed just 12 goals in nine games and compiled a 6-2-1 overall record. Up next for the Crimson is the first round of the 34th annual Women's Beanpot, hosted this year by Boston University at Walter Brown Arena. Harvard takes on the host Terriers Tuesday in the second game of the day, slated to begin at 8 p.m.

Dartmouth only surrendered one goal in its two goals last weekend, beating Brown, 3-1 and blanking Yale, 6-0. As a result the Big Green (10-4-2, 14-6-2) held onto their No. 10 position in both national polls this week. Dartmouth garnered 27 points in the USCHO.com poll and 32 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. Dartmouth has won six of seven games and now sits in a three-way third-place tie with Clarkson and Quinnipiac in the ECAC Hockey standings. The Big Green return home this weekend when it hosts Princeton Friday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. and Quinnipiac Saturday, Feb. 4, at 4 p.m.

Clarkson and St. Lawrence received votes in the latest polls this week as well.
