Nationals Polls Feature Cornell & Harvard
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Cornell and Harvard were featured in the in the
latest national USCHO.com poll, released Monday, October 31 and the
most recent USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, released Tuesday,
November 1. Cornell moves up one spot to the remains in the No. 2/2
slot, while No. 10/10 Harvard enters each poll for the first time
this season.
No. 2/2 Cornell earned 170 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey
Magazine poll and 131 points in the USCHO.com poll, along with one
first-place vote in each poll. The Big Red have outscored their
opponents 33-4 in four contests this season have outshot opponents
by a 237-48 margin. As a team, Cornell has the country's best
offense (8.25 goals per game) and second best defense (1.00 goals
allowed per game), the second-best power-play (36.7 percent) and
fifth-best penalty kill (90.0 percent).
Harvard (2-0-0) enters into the national spotlight for the first
time in the young season sitting in the No. 10 position in both
national polls. The Crimson earned 29 points in the USA Today/USA
Hockey Magazine and 12 points in the USCHO.com poll. Last weekend
Harvard completed its second Clarkson/St. Lawrence series sweep in
its last three tries, and upped its record to 2-0-0 on the young
season. Harvard will take next weekend off from play and return to
action on the road against Colgate Nov. 11 in a 7 p.m. game.
Other ECAC Hockey teams receiving votes in the national polls this
week were: Dartmouth and Clarkson.

The USCHO.com Poll is compiled weekly and consists of 15 voters,
including 12 coaches of Division I programs and three women's
hockey writers. USCHO.com provides in-depth coverage of
college sports, including hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and others.
The 15th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women’s College
Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American
Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches
and journalists representing each of the four NCAA Division I ice
hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the
AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey
magazine in the world.
