Engineers Doubled-up By Dartmouth
HANOVER, N.H. - Camille Dumais had a goal and two assists to
lead the Dartmouth women's hockey team to a 4-2 victory over
Rensselaer in an ECAC Hockey game at Thompson Arena. The Big Green,
who had two power play goals, an extra attacker goal and an empty
net marker, improve to 10-5-2 overall and 6-3-2 in the league. RPI
falls to 5-14-4 and 2-7-2.
The Engineers broke out on top with a power play goal of their own
from senior Amanda Castignetti (Anchorage, AK/Shattuck-St. Mary's)
at 11:47 of the first period. Dartmouth tied the score late in the
period with its first power play goal, this one by Kelly Foley with
the lone assist going to Dumais.
Dumais, a junior forward, put the home team in front with a second
period power play goal, which came at the 16:56 mark.
Reagan Fischer made it a 3-1 Dartmouth lead at 2:55 of the third
period with an extra attacker goal as RPI was whistled for a
penalty. Foley and Dumais set up Fischer. Rensselaer pulled back to
within one goal at 15:56 of the final period on sophomore Jordan
Smelker's (Anchorage, AK/Team Alaska 19U), but the Big Green added
an empty netter with 54 seconds remaining to seal the victory.
Lindsay Holdcroft earned the win for Dartmouth, which outshot the
Engineers, 34-16. She had two saves in the first period, seven in
the second and five in the third. Freshman Kelly O'Brien (Sussex,
WI/Madison Capitals) finished with 30 stops for RPI, including 18
in the second period.
