CHESTNUT HILL, Ma. (11/25/11) - Senior goalie Rachel Weber made
a season-high 40 saves but No. 4-ranked Boston College's power play
unit was too much to handle as the Eagles scored four extra-man
goals en route to a 6-1 win over Princeton in women's hockey on
Friday, Nov. 25 at Conte Forum.
The Eagles scored three goals in the third period, with two coming
in the final three minutes of the period.
Princeton cut the lead back to 3-1 when senior Heather Landry
scored a power-play goal just 1:14 into the second session. Senior
Paula Romanchuk got the puck at the goal line extended and passed
to senior Julie Johnson who skated down the right wall and cut
straight to the post and back handed a pass to Landry. Landry was
just coming through the crease and found herself open for the
goal.
BC would score three more power-play goals, two in the second and
one in the third to seal the win.
The Eagles were 4 for 7 on the power play, while the Tigers went 1
for 6.
BC outshot Princeton 46-28. Corinne Boyles stopped 27 for the
Eagles, with Weber making 40 for the Tigers, just one shy of her
career best.
Princeton continues its Hockey East weekend with a trip to New
Hampshire Saturday, Nov. 26. The puck drops at 2 p.m.
