ERIE, Pa. – Seven different players scored goals as No. 9
Mercyhurst topped Yale 9-1 in women's hockey action Friday
afternoon at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Freshman goalie Jaimie
Leonoff made 52 saves for the Bulldogs after coming on in relief of
senior Genny Ladiges seven minutes into the game.
Mercyhurst (7-2-0) knocked Ladiges out of the game by scoring two
times in the first 45 seconds and four times in the first seven
minutes, including a pair of goals from forward Lauren Jones. The
Lakers then increased their lead to 5-0 on a short-handed goal by
forward Christine Bestland, one of two short-handed goals for
Mercyhurst in the game.
Freshman forward Stephanie Mock got Yale (1-9-0) on the scoreboard
at 14:31 of the first with a power play goal, assisted by senior
forward Aleca Hughes and sophomore forward Jackie Raines. Mock now
leads the Bulldogs in scoring (2-4-6).
The second period saw the Lakers score just once on 18 shots, but
in the third they broke the game open by outshooting Yale 285 and
scoring three more goals. Forward Bailey Bram had a pair in a span
of just over six minutes, finishing with a four-point game
(2-2-4)
Mercyhurst goalie Hillary Pattenden made 14 saves before giving
