PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton broke open a 1-0 game with
three second-period goals Saturday afternoon at Baker Rink against
Yale, then went on to finish off a 7-1 win. Freshman forward
Stephanie Mock scored the Bulldogs’ only goal, assisted by
senior forward Aleca Hughes.
Princeton (4-1-1, 3-0-1 ECAC Hockey) had a 10-7 shot advantage in
the first, scoring the period’s only goal (forward Denna
Laing). Yale senior goalie Genny Ladiges had nine saves.
The Tigers then scored three times in the first nine minutes of the
second period to seize control. The Bulldogs called timeout after
the fourth goal. They would have three power plays for the rest of
the period but could not capitalize on any of them. One Yale goal
was waved off after it was ruled that the puck had been kicked
in.
After Tigers forward Alex Kinney made it 5-0 at 6:27 of the third,
Mock scored on a power play 90 seconds later. Two more Princeton
goals finished off the scoring.
Ladiges finished with 24 saves, while freshman Jaimie Leonoff came
on to make nine in the third period. Princeton’s Rachel Weber
made 27 stops.
Yale (0-7-0, 0-4-0 ECAC Hockey) hosts Union next Friday.
