Tigers Edge Dutchwomen at Messa Rink
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (10/28/11) - The Princeton women's hockey team
started the ECAC Hockey season with a win, as the Tigers defeated
Union, 2-1 on Friday, Oct. 28 at Messa Rink in the league
opener.
Princeton, which played its first games last weekend, had a 34-20
edge in shots over Union, a team that strung together a 2-5 record
since its first game back on since Sept. 30.

left in the first period to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Corey
Stearns brought the puck up the wall and dropped it off for senior

Leahy deflected it in.

game winner. Sophomore Olivia Mucha came around the net and got
tripped up on the forecheck but senior Paula Romanchuk picked up
the puck and slid it across the ice to Butler who went five hole on
Alana Marcinko.
Union worked hard but Princeton was able to withstand the pressure
until it found itself in a 5x6 situation. The Dutchwomen pulled
Marcinko with 2:09 remaining and with the extra attacker was able
to score with Bryanne Panchuk getting credit with an assist to
Emilie Arseneault.
Senior Rachel Weber finished the game with 19 saves and Marcinko
stopped 32 shots.
