Fischer & Overguard Share League’s Best-Defensive-Forward Honor
ALBANY, N.Y. -- ECAC Hockey today announced Reagan Fischer from
Dartmouth College and Karlee Overguard from Cornell University have
been named the co-recipients of the league’s 2010-11 Women's
Best Defensive Forward Award presented by Gladiator Custom
Mouthguards.
One of the all-around leaders for Dartmouth, Reagan Fischer has
developed into a solid player at both ends of the ice for the Big
Green during her three years in Hanover. The Irma, Alberta native
currently leads the team in plus/minus with a +14 rating.
She can often be seen on the ice blocking shots and leading the
special teams. She set a new career-high in assists in a single
game with three in a 5-0 win over Connecticut and tied a
career-high for points in a game (four) in that same contest this
season. Fischer has played in all 30 games for Dartmouth this
season, recording a
point in 18 of them.
Sharing the league postseason honor is senior Karlee Overguard from
Cornell. The Sundre, Alberta native plays a significant role on
Cornell’s penalty-killing unit which has only surrendered
four goals in 77 opportunities during conference action this
season. The Big Red has killed off 94.8 percent of opponents’
power-plays in the 22 league games and 93.8 percent overall, which
is best in the nation for the second consecutive season.
Overguard has also helped Cornell’s defense post 11 shutouts
on the season. She is also
one of three main faceoff persons for the Big Red and currently has
a plus/minus rating
of +21.
The other finalist for the award was Alisa Harrison,
Rensselaer.
