Final National Polls Feature Cornell & Dartmouth
ALBANY, NY – Cornell and Dartmouth, two of the ECAC Hockey powers, are showcased in the final USCHO.com poll, released Monday, March 21 and the final USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, released Tuesday, March 22. Cornell earned the No. 4/4 position, while Dartmouth came in at the No. 8/8 slot in the polls.
After claiming its second straight ECAC Women’s Hockey Tournament Title and making its second consecutive trip to the Frozen Four, Cornell earned a final spot in both national polls release this week. The Big Red, who finished the season with 31 wins, earned the No. 4 spot in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women’s College Hockey poll (139 points) and in the USCHO.com poll (108 points). The magical Big Red season came to an end last Friday night as they fell to Boston University in the national semifinals, 4-1, at Tullio Arena in Erie, PA. Cornell was in the top ten in every category on the national level this season; scoring offense (third), netting 157 goals in 35 games ( 4.49 goals per game); first in scoring defense, only surrendering 39 goals in 35 games (1.11 goals per game); first in penalty kill (93.3%); and third in power-play (25.5%).
Dartmouth, which earned a trip to the NCAA Women’s Tournament this season, finished the season with a 22-12-0 record, which marked a 10-win improvement from last season. The Big Green finished in the No. 8/8 spot in both national polls earning 45 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and 35 points in the USCHO.com poll. Dartmouth will return nine of its top 10 scorers next season.
Harvard picked up a vote in the USCHO.com poll this week.
