Cornell & Harvard Continue to Earn Respect of National Voters

ALBANY, NY – Cornell and Harvard once again merit the recognition of the national voters in the USCHO.com poll, released Monday, February 7 and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, released Tuesday, February, 8. ECAC Hockey’s top team Cornell is ranked No. 2/2 in both polls, while Harvard sits in the No. 10/10 spot in both polls.          

With a 23-1-1 overall record the Big Red remains Cornell sits at No. 2/2 with 177 points and six first-place votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women’s College Hockey poll and 138 points and three first-place votes in the USCHO.com poll. After posting a 1-0-1 mark last weekend and clinching their second straight ECAC Hockey crown in their visit to the North Country, the Big Red remains unbeaten in 17-0-1. Cornell owns the nation’s largest current unbeaten streak at 19-0-1, along with the top winning percentage (.940%). Cornell continues to lead the nation in scoring defense (0.80 G/GM); scoring margin (3.68); power-play (27.6%) success rate; and penalty kill (97.4%). Cornell will return home in its final regular-season home weekend at Lynah Rink welcoming Brown and Yale in league action.

Harvard owns a league record of 12-4-2, good enough for a second-place position by four points over Dartmouth, which sits in the third slot. The Crimson, 13-8-2 overall, remains in the No. 10 spot in the USCHO.com poll with and 11 points and in the No. 10 slot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll with 17 points. After the weekend’s action Harvard has won seven of its last eight games. Harvard ventures to the North Country next weekend to battle Clarkson and St. Lawrence.

Dartmouth and Quinnipiac also received one votes in one of the national polls this week.
